Thought for Saturday

1 John 4:13-15 NLT

And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us. Furthermore, we have seen with our own eyes and now testify that the Father sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God.

Habbakuk 3:19   NLT

The Sovereign lord is my strength! He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights.

(For the choir director: This prayer is to be accompanied by stringed instruments.)

Thought for Sunday

Psalm 84 NLT

1How lovely is your dwelling place,
O lord of Heaven’s Armies.
2I long, yes, I faint with longing
to enter the courts of the lord.
With my whole being, body and soul,
I will shout joyfully to the living God.
3Even the sparrow finds a home,
and the swallow builds her nest and raises her young
at a place near your altar,
O lord of Heaven’s Armies, my King and my God!
4What joy for those who can live in your house,
always singing your praises.
Interlude
5What joy for those whose strength comes from the lord,
who have set their minds on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem.
6When they walk through the Valley of Weeping,
it will become a place of refreshing springs.
The autumn rains will clothe it with blessings.
7They will continue to grow stronger,
and each of them will appear before God in Jerusalem.
😯 lord God of Heaven’s Armies, hear my prayer.
Listen, O God of Jacob.
Interlude
9O God, look with favor upon the king, our shield!
Show favor to the one you have anointed.
10A single day in your courts
is better than a thousand anywhere else!
I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God
than live the good life in the homes of the wicked.
11For the lord God is our sun and our shield.
He gives us grace and glory.
The lord will withhold no good thing
from those who do what is right.
12O lord of Heaven’s Armies,
what joy for those who trust in you.

Isaiah‬ ‭45‬:‭2-3‬ NLT

“This is what the LORD says: “I will go before you, Cyrus, and level the mountains. I will smash down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. And I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness— secret riches. I will do this so you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, the one who calls you by name.”

Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭8-10‬ NLT

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
